We believe in the healing power of presence. Our values of respect, compassion, excellence, community, and stewardship inform our actions and inspire our caregivers. We support various outreach and advancement programs throughout the St. Louis, St. Charles, and Metro East regions.
Every day, SSM Health Foundation — St. Louis is inspired by the mission of the Sisters of St. Mary who courageously served the needs of those in their community. Striving to continue that tradition, we seek support from our community to advance our vital ministry.
To meet this monumental task, we rely on the exceptional care delivered by the healing hands and hearts of the SSM Health nurses and physicians. It is essential that these medical professionals are highly trained in the latest techniques and proficient in cutting-edge, life-saving technologies. Then, instilled with this knowledge, they may fulfill their spiritual calling each and every day.
Surveillance Cameras Allow Behavioral Health Patients to Enjoy Outdoors
SSM Health Foundation – St. Louis recently funded several safety and security cameras for the courtyard area for behavioral health patients. It has been proven that the outdoors can help alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression; it was limiting that behavioral health patients couldn’t experience this respite during their days. The outdoor areas are now open for business; the additional cameras allow for patient programming to take place in nature. The ministry anticipates increased use of the courtyard and enhanced patient experience scores as a result!
Continuing Education Funding Allows SSM Therapist to More Comprehensively Help First Responders
The SSM Health Medical Group launched The Executive Health program, which provides wellness services to the area’s first responders. Currently, the program provides medical evaluations to over 2,000 fire fighters, paramedics, and police officers. In 2019, the program incorporated first responder-specific behavioral health assessments into the wellness program and brought on a therapist who identified that individual stress and trauma was affecting marriages and family life; in fact 56% of first-responders surveyed have requested marital counseling. SSM Health Medical Group felt compelled to add couples therapy to their list of offerings, but knew the therapist needed additional training. SSM Health Foundation – St. Louis is honored to provide the funding for the continuing education of the program’s primary therapist. This additional knowledge base and skillset will help thousands of first responders continue the path towards wholistic behavioral health and wellness.
