SSM DePaul Health Center is a 476-bed, full-service Catholic hospital and a member of SSM Health Care-St. Louis, sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Mary. Opened in 1828, SSM DePaul was the first hospital west of the Mississippi River and remains the oldest continuously existing business in St. Louis. The SSM DePaul Health Center Foundation was founded in 1997. A need was identified to provide ongoing support for the hospital and community programs at SSM DePaul. The Foundation raises funds for hospital services, long-term community health programs, charity care, staff education and medical equipment. The Foundation also provides opportunities for area leaders to support the community. In its short history, the DePaul Foundation has raised more than $8 million!
